2. Professional Experience

Higher Education - California State University, San Bernardino. Teach career and technical teacher education courses to adults with business and industry backgrounds (1999 to present).  BVE Program Coordinator (2000 to present).  Design and implement on-line curricula for ECTS and ETEC courses.  Develop and implement Bachelor of Arts in Career and Technical Studies degree.  Update the Designated Subjects Credential courses to meet 2009 CTC standards.

Public/Private School Experience:  Conduct In-service training seminars – Corinthian Schools (Formerly National Education Centers) (1988 to present) and United Education Institute (2005 to present). Teach allied health and business courses.  Served as externship coordinator for two years. Developed curriculum for allied health courses.  United Education Institutes (2004 to present).  Teach allied health and business courses.

Publishing – Delmar Publishers (1993 to present). 3. Most Recent Courses Taught and Examples of Instructional Strategies Used

ECTS 1000 Early Orientation - Developed and taught on-line course through College of Extended Learning (CEL) in an open entrance/open exit format.  Scholars are introduced to skills necessary for year 1 survival including lesson plans, special populations, industry partnerships, legal ethical issues, safety issues, student contracts, and classroom rules to name a few.

ECTS 335 Introduction to Career and Technical Education – Developed and taught both traditional and on-line course using electronic portfolios, Web page presentations and an electronic textbook.  Scholars use a template to generate a CTEC Portfolio for submission to CTE faculty requesting credit units for work, supervisory, and teaching experience.  Scholars also develop a degree plan for completing the BACTS degree.

ECTS 435 Trends and Issues in Career and Technical Education – Scholar complete and submit their CTEC Portfolio, develop personal mission, philosophy, and pledge statements, and participate in weekly discussions on contemporary trends and issues in Career and Technical Education relevant to their industry sector.

ECTS 504 Principles of Adult Education – Developed and taught traditional and on-line workgroup-based course within a virtual classroom using electronic discussion boards, slide show presentations, Web page presentations and an electronic textbook.  Pedagogy vs. andragogy with special consideration of ESL, disabled, and older adults is explored.

ECTS 519 Introduction to Computers for Vocational Education – Developed and taught both traditional and on-line course using electronic portfolios, slide show presentations, Web page presentations and an electronic textbook.  Emphasis of course is to provide scholars with skills for producing graphic intensive educational slide shows and Web pages.

ECTS 520 Curriculum Development in  Vocational Education – Developed and taught both traditional instruction and distance learning instruction using peer evaluation, electronic discussion boards, Web page presentations and an electronic textbook.  Curriculum project is designed to satisfy Master Thesis Project requirements.

ECTS 521 Assessing Vocational Student Progress – Developed and taught both traditional instruction and distance learning instruction using peer evaluation, electronic discussion boards, Web page presentations and an electronic textbook.  Emphasis is placed on writing objective statements and assessment tools for all learning levels in the three domains of Bloom's taxonomy to bring student from memorization to critical thinking.

ECTS 508, 509, 510 Level 3 Supervision and Coordination for Designated Subjects - Awarded course development grant for 2006 to developed on-line curriculum for Level 3 courses.  Offered the new on-line curriculum during Spring 2006.  Due to its success the series is schedule for spring quarter in 2008 onward.  CSUSB is 1 of 4 institutions in California offering the Level 3 series courses and the only program offered on-line to reach distance learners.

4. Technology

In Teaching – Designed an interactive online textbook for use with designated subjects, BACTS, and ETEC courses for College of Education. Developed extensive interactive Web based teaching materials. Developed Web based distance-learning options for Designated Subjects Teaching Credential, Bachelor of Vocational Education and Bachelor of Career and Technical Studies programs. Developed courses to teach computer applications to teachers.

In Professional Life - Use word processing, database, spread sheet and graphics applications extensively. Have developed html authoring skills for Web site development. Mentor to faculty, staff and students in applying computer related skills.  Developed camera ready copy for traditional textbooks using software applications.  Web Master for BSAonbelay Rock Climbing Program.

Program/ Department/College/University Service - Serves as BACTS degrees Program Coordinator/Advisor, MS in STEM Education Degree Technology Concentration Program Coordinator/Advisor, and Supervision and Coordination Credential Program Coordinator/Advisor.  Served on the AD Hoc Committee for revising the M.A. core curriculum for College of Education at CSUSB. Serves on Career and Technology Education advisory board.  Consult with TESOL department to introduce on-line components to TESOL curricula.  Work with SSD office to make faculty aware of methodology and integrate technology for accessibility compliance.  Work CSU Chancellor's Office to develop and implement new BACTS degree.  Serve on College of Education Curriculum Committee and CSUSB Grievance Committee.  Serves on the University Grievance Committee, the Program Coordinator Committee, and the Graduate Council.  Serves on the Commission on Teacher Credential Board of Institution Review and Initial Program Review Committees.

Community Partnerships/Service -  Currently developing community partnership with Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department University, Barstow College, and San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools for matriculation into the Bachelor of Arts in Career and Technical Studies degree program.  Currently serves on the CSUSB CTE Advisory Board and Unitek College Advisory Board for Allied Health.  Formerly served on the Skadron College Advisory Board for Allied Health, the CIT Advisory Committee, and United Education Institute Advisory Committee.  Served on California State Committee for Development of Standardized Allied Health Resource Materials.  Formerly served on Advisory Committee for Skadron College Allied Health programs.  Served in Fordham Library Adult Literacy program.  Member of the Boy Scouts Of America as adult leader instructor on the California Inland Empire Council High Adventure Team (HAT), San Gabriel Valley Council, and past Old Baldy Council resident High Adventure Director and High Adventure Director for Holcomb Valley Scout Ranch.  American Red Cross Instructor for First Aid, CPR, Wilderness Aid, Blood borne Pathogens, and Water Safety.  Consulting with College of Information Technology, Orange County, CA, to develop regional and international on-line instructions for registered nursing curricula and on-line curricula for computer science.  Consultant to Unitek College for on-line Medical Assisting curriculum.  Consultant to CIT for their Digital Imaging Degree.  Member of the Wrightwood/Phelan Search and Rescue team.

7. Work in Progress

Developing audiovisual components for on-line course materials for ECTS electronic textbooks to comply with accessibility legislation.  Working with SSD, ODL, TRC, and ACM to add pod casts, audio tracts, video clips, and transcripts to course materials. 

Serve as the BCTS Program Coordinator facilitating student CTEC Portfolios to CSUSB Faculty Review Board requesting credit toward the BCTS degree for life experience.

Developed a Bachelor in Career and Technical Studies to replace the BVE degree program.  Serve as BCTS Program Coordinator facilitating student CTEC portfolios for submission to ECTS faculty requesting credit toward the BCTS degree for life experience.

Currently working with CTC to develop curricula for the Adult Education Credential to meet 2011 CTE standards for implementation in September 2012.
